T-1: The leaving party in quotes
Me, arriving at the venue: Hello! I’m here for my party!
Random guest: Are you excited about the move?
Me: Oh yes. How could I not be?
Mike (in his leaving card): “You’re invited to the wedding next year. You would be the best man but you have so much to live for and Ben has nothing.”
John: What can I get you to drink?
Me: Well, I’ve already got one and…
John: Come on. This is the last chance to get a free drink out of me.
Me: Double vodka and coke, please.
Me [earlier that day]: James, you can take your suit on as hand luggage and that gives us more room in the case.
James: Oh, so I have to mess around with my suit as hand luggage but we have room for (rummages through suitcase) …rubber ducks.
Katie [at the party]: I bought you this. (Produces blue, starry rubber duck). It’s Australian!
Me: I love it!
James: You’re an idiot.
Random guest: Are you excited about the move?
Me: Well, excited is too strong a word. I’m looking forward to it, but I don’t think anyone could live in a permanent state of excitement.
Sarah: Come on Sveny! We’re doing shots! Let’s show them how it’s done! Light it in your mouth! Yeah!!
Elsa: I am going to miss you most of all, scarecrow.
Kandise: …and we we’re on that stage hoochy, giving it everything when Britney came on.
Claire: People actually stopped dancing to watch.
Me: I am so jealous.
Claire: But at least we know we can gay club without you, now.
Me: I have taught you well. If you love someone, you must let them go.
Lorraine: You’re just a big, gangly mess.
Random guest: Are you excited about the move?
Me: How could anyone be excited about leaving all these people?
Card from Monkey: You have been there on my best days and worst days, and we’ve come through it all through the medium of dance.
Oh great. I’m crying again.

Double vodka and coke? Really? Mmmmhh, I’ll have to try it.

The double vodka and coke took me back too. Not sure I should try it, vodka either makes me very very happy, or prone to pick an argument with someone.
I, personally, am excited about the move.

Really? It’s popular over here, though not a good idea on Saturday. I don’t have a lot of caffeine so after about 10 of them I was (a) smashed and (b) buzzing. I was like an energetic mess.
I’m excited too, Gng; just sad to leave at the same time.

Understand you being upset. Sounds like a great leaving party though! I love the ‘one chapter ends, another begins’ thing that you’re going through though. It’s what I want! And the job change is not enough..

That is a really neat way to sum it up. The time has flown - can’t believe you’re off. The suit/duck in luggage is a classic married one I think.
Good luck. Visit back soon!!!
